ECHOS ELECTRIK has joined forces with LA COMÉDIE to develop and program INTERCAL as part of the project for La Comédie, Centre dramatique national de Reims.
INTERCAL // Biennale hors cadres
INTERCAL is presented at La COMÉDIE in the form of a biennial event designed to promote new hybrid and unconventional creations in search of sensory and immersive experiences.
The aim is to bring together artists from the fields of theater, sound, visual arts and digital art, to question their disciplines and experiment with common paths.
The interpenetration of scenic, visual and digital disciplines is increasingly common. In a world where the convergence of information technology, multimedia and telecommunications has blurred boundaries and had a lasting impact on our societies, what about the convergence of disciplines, particularly in the theater? What about the boundaries that some artists are breaking down, gradually expanding their fields of expertise by incorporating other art forms into their primary art? These are the questions that gave rise to INTERCAL, a thematic highlight of the Comédie – CDN de Reims, which explores the existing and yet-to-be-invented links between theater and multimedia.
In addition to this 4-day special event, INTERCAL takes the form of research programs throughout the season, giving rise to « cartes blanches », incubators for encounters and experimentation, inviting artists from theater and other artistic fields to create and confront their disciplines together on stage.
INTERCAL is based on an open approach that is in tune with the times, and capable of evolving and enriching itself according to the experiences it encounters and the projects it generates.
The first edition of INTERCAL was scheduled for June 3-6, 2020, under the name PRINTEMPS NUMERIQUE. It was cancelled due to the health situation linked to COVID-19 and was postponed in its entirety to June 2 to 5, 2021, but could only be held under constraint (curfew, health measures, etc.).
Four cartes blanches have been produced for the 2020/2021 season, as well as a perennial sound creation for the Hall de la COMÉDIE.
The 2nd edition will take place from June 7 to 11, 2022.
