INTERCAL is proposed here as a mission to enhance the Sorbonne’s extraordinary potential, architecture and culture combined, and the event’s programming has brought together artists who engage in a genuine dialogue between the site, their art and the public.
Taking the Sorbonne and its history as their source of inspiration, new digital creation technologies as their tools, and « residual hauntology* » as their focus, the guest artists created works in dialogue with the site, proposing a new reading, apprehension and perception of the places invested.
The intervention consisted in the possibility of fixing the sound phenomenon, de-archiving it and restoring it in another form. Fixed sounds as the bias of things. Taking « Les Archives de la parole* » and recordings of speeches made in the Grand Amphithéâtre as their main material, these materials are manipulated and diverted according to the works and spaces occupied.
