No Logo 2019 is being built in three phases:
Meetings and scouting // January.
Visits to the three target cities and contacts with educational establishments and the relevant authorities.
Skills transfer phase // February – March.
Period of targeted practical workshops on digital creation tools, in partnership with 9 educational establishments in the towns of Kairouan, El Kef and Bizerte.
Final phase, Tourné No Logo // April.
Touring through the three target cities, No Logo unfurls inside La Bulle, a nomadic inflatable structure set up in the public space.
The finalized project will be presented to the public in the form of a tour through the three cities of Kairouan, El Kef and Bizerte. Within La Bulle, a nomadic inflatable structure set up in the public space, the presence of No Logo will constitute a festive focal point, while providing local residents with a space of appropriation open to dialogue, learning and artistic dissemination.
One of the main objectives of the project is to provide the general public with an introduction to digital culture. During the two days of the Bulle’s presence in each city, introductory workshops in digital creation tools will be offered.
The appropriation of this mobile space by the public is an important aspect of our collaborative approach.
With this in mind, we have created the « Carte Blanche à La Ville » program. La Bulle and our teams are available to artists, collectives and local players, offering them a space and time to show their work to the public.
The choice of cities was guided by the following points
Building potential partnerships:
For the development of skills transfer workshops, study of possible anchor points in terms of existing resources in each of the towns, educational structures linked to arts and crafts, engineering and IT; associative fabric.
A wealth of tangible and intangible heritage:
Local artistic expression; Artists present in or from the area; Sites and spaces suitable for the installation of the Bubble, to enhance the value of local heritage for local residents.
The relevance of the project’s presence :
With regard to the lack of spaces for artistic dissemination and communion among local residents; The lack of diversity in cultural and artistic offerings.
Nature of workshops and artistic collaborations
Skills transmission phases
Skills transfer is provided by a group of contributors from different backgrounds (artists, engineers, 3D designers, musicologists), all of whom are involved with new technologies in their practices. Formed into three teams, they work simultaneously in each city.
We favour a hands-on approach for this transmission phase, based on experimenting with tools to create a digital work. The aim of each workshop is to culminate in the creation of an artistic object at the end of the course, presented to the public during the No Logo tour.
The disciplines covered in the workshops are related to visual creation, sound production and Arduino interfacing for interactivity. We develop computer programming practices, familiarization with open source software such as Pur Data and Processing, object design and 3D printing.
Practical work takes place on the premises of educational establishments in Kairouan, Kef and Bizerte. These include pilot high schools, engineering prep schools, arts and crafts institutes, science faculties and others.
Bubble construction workshops
A ten-day workshop is scheduled for the start of the tour at the Kairouan Institute of Arts and Crafts. It will bring together some thirty students to build the main Bubble. During the workshop, they will benefit from a theoretical input that will enable students to better grasp the issues underlying inflatable architecture, and collective construction, with an emphasis on DIY/DIT (Do It Together) concepts.
Touring phases
The introductory workshops offered as part of the No Logo tour are open to the general public, and require prior registration on our website. A call for registrations will be launched prior to the tour.
Around eight workshops will be offered daily. Sound creation, electronic manipulation and 3D printers, creation of a technological show, video mapping and Virtual Reality, TV hacking, co-design of inflatables to build mini Bubbles… All workshops are free of charge.
COLLECTIVE LA BULLE
Collectif La Bulle is an association under the French law of 1901, specialized in the design of inflatables and the realization of cultural events since 2012.
Led by a young, multi-disciplinary team of architects, designers, sustainable development engineers, artists and players from cultural and associative circles, its mission is to promote socio-cultural and artistic activities within a logic of local development.
La Bulle offers a new experience between confined space and the open air. Nomadic and ephemeral, it offers participants immersion in a surprising architecture, where music, visual arts, projections and other creative expressions can come together. Each structure is an airy space conceived as a playful and unusual interface, a place for exchange and sharing, designed to be transported, set up and used to encourage discovery and encounters.
