Tackling notions of interaction between sound and vision, musicologist Anas Ghrab (Tunisia), accompanied by two Algerian musicians, Oussama Becissa and Tarek Bradai, will rethink the way they present their musical practice. The result of this experiment will be an audiovisual performance using acoustic and digital instruments.
Participating artists :
TAREK BRADAI. Bassist, songwriter, music therapist, he is co-founder of the group Smoke, with whom he took part in the DimaJazz international festival in Constantine in 2016. Since 2008, Tarek has been involved in a series of eclectic musical projects, ranging from the modern to the ethnic. He then opened up to music with images, and in 2019 launched his solo project T O O X in a universe inspired by mysticism in an electronic, tribal-ethnic air, while retaining his North African Algerian roots. He is also co-founder of the Oran-based band Reverse, whose repertoire ranges from jazz fusion to world music with a North African twist.
OUSSEMA BECISSA. Author, composer and instrumentalist (Oud), Oussema Becissa grew up in Oran in a family of music lovers who imbued him from childhood with a variety of classical and oriental music. At an early age, he discovered heavy metal, and at 17 formed the death metal band Amnesty with friends. In 2010, he embarked on a new project entitled Knibla, a blend of Oranese folk music and modern sounds. He continues this work with the experimental jazz group « Goya », then with the group « Astral vibes conspiracy ».
ANAS GHRAB. In parallel with his studies of music at the Tunis Conservatory and musicology (Université Lumière – Lyon 2, Paris-Sorbonne), Anas Ghrab has developed a particular interest in digital data for research and artistic practice. He is currently a teacher-researcher at the University of Sousse.
