Born of an idea by choirmaster, the late Aziz Hammouli in 2014 and renewed by Mohamed Mehannek, was encouraged by the Artissimo establishment to promote polyphonic singing. The choir takes the form of a collective of young music-lovers open to different musical genres, performing songs from Algerian heritage, international variety and polyphony, as well as great lyrical works.

Mohamed MEHANNEK holds a master’s degree in music didactics, and is a doctoral student at ENS-KOUBA (École Normale Supérieure Kouba). He is a researcher at CNRPAH (Centre National de Recherches Préhistoriques Anthropologie et Histoire), an ethnomusicologist and has been teaching guitar and singing at the Artissimo school since 2003.
