– Location: ISET Mahdia
– Dates : June 6 to 12
– Speakers: Mehdi Hadj Sassi – vincent Sanjivy
Objective: The Kinetik workshop offers participants the opportunity to create a scenographic device, covering topics such as videomapping, 3D modeling, audio signal analysis, the use of midi controllers, the Art-Net protocol, and interfacing with Arduino.
This project will provide an opportunity to familiarize oneself with the artistic creation process, by tackling different technologies used in the world of digital art. Participants will be supervised in the construction and programming of a kinetic installation, made up of light panels in motion, illuminated by video projection. The device will be used on the No Logo stage, reactive to the music, and controlled from the control room.
The workshop will be divided into two parts. The hardware part will deal with the manufacture of the module, programming and servo-control of stepper motors, via an Arduino board. The Software part will involve videomapping of moving objects and real-time 3D, using TouchDesigner software.
TouchDesigner is a reference tool in audiovisual programming. Widely used in the digital arts, its modular approach and real-time optimization make it ideal for creating interactive installations. Its nodal operation makes it accessible to artists and programmers alike, who share a versatile tool for creating and controlling sound, image and video, in conjunction with interfaces and sensors.
Participants will be trained in the TouchDesigner software and, with the help of the instructors, will create an installation control tool. The interface will offer a real-time 3D representation of the device, and communicate with the Arduino. It will control the position of the moving panels and the projected video content.
The KINETIK workshop will also be held during the tour, in the form of two-hour introductory workshops. Some of the students will be invited to run these workshops with the Mehdia audience.
