Synopsis
Last show before this movie theater closes its doors forever. A young man of Japanese origin enters the cinema to protect himself from the rain. The infirm usherette and the projectionist have never had the chance to meet, even though they both work in the same cinema. Since tonight is their last chance, the young woman is eager to share her fortune cake with the handsome projectionist. But when she goes into the projection booth, he’s not there. She refuses to leave until she sees him again. So she sets out to find him in
the maze of the cinema. On the giant screen is Dragon Gate Inn, a successful Chinese film directed by King Hu in 1964. The Japanese man notices two individuals in the room who resemble the film’s actors. Older, sitting in this empty cinema, they watch and reminisce…Good Bye, Dragon Inn is filmed in long, mostly static shots. With the exception of Dragon Gate’s dialogue
Inn, fewer than ten lines appear in the film itself. A perfect film for which Fibla and Arbol worked together to create an original soundtrack with the accompaniment of violinist Sara Pérez and for which Fibla and Arbol use computers, Xylophones, percussion and various effets keyboards and even a glockenspiel.
