KIT-KIT WORKSHOP

Using a variety of salvaged materials – such as piezos and RCA cables – the workshop aims to introduce participants to electronics by making contact and binaural microphones, as well as a plug-in-power device that will serve as a source for the latter. In a DIY spirit, the workshop provides access to creative tools with which to co-create a sound bank from the surrounding sound space.

HACK & SLASH LAB

In addition to open-source technologies, we’re witnessing a growing trend among the companies that develop our media devices. Machines once reserved for the consumption of cultural objects (i.e. iPod, Wiimote, Kinect, etc.) now have production potential. This reversal of function is particularly interesting in an artistic context, because of its innovative nature, the great mobility these devices allow, and the openness of the computer systems that support this type of information exchange.
This workshop/conference presents an overview of the hijacking of proprietary technologies and their impact on digital art practices, before giving way to an intensive technical course in which participants will be encouraged to find ways of tampering with wiimotes according to their own interests.

We’ll unmask our own traffic using a few free tools, then put it to creative use. This workshop is aimed at artists and creative programming enthusiasts alike. High curiosity an asset.

TOONLOOP

TOONLOOP is a creative animation workshop based on the freeze-frame technique. Using an intuitive software interface, the steps of capturing, editing and viewing are simultaneously integrated to synthesize the act of creation in media arts.
