The artistic intention is to create a dialogue between the sites involved and the contemporary artistic forms proposed, anchored in an approach of valorization and respect for the tangible and intangible heritage that we integrate into our intervention. The content will question the cultural components of the region, forms of graphic expression, fields and recitals from the island and other parts of the world.
Our proposal involves three interventions in two different locations:
MAPPING A/V – FADHLOUNE MOSQUE – MIDOUN
The Fadhloun Mosque in Midoun, built in the 14th century, features architecture typical of the island’s religious buildings, but designed according to an atypical plan that is unique in Tunisia’s architectural heritage.
Inspired by historical Lybic, Saharan and Touareg glyphs, mainly geometric shapes, a video mapping creation will be produced to enhance the building and the ancestral culture it represents. The sound part of the projection will be based on modified and synthesized local sounds, striving to convey the same poetry and identity anchoring.
MULTIMEDIA INTERVENTION – HOUCH DJERBA EXPLORE
Carte blanche for multimedia artist Ferid Sanaa. The content of his artistic intervention will be determined in collaboration with the Echos Electrik team. With this initiative we wish to encourage and support the professionalization of emerging digital artists from Tunisia. We will support him in the implementation of his project and its realization.
LA BULLE – ESPLANADE MOSQUÉE FADHLOUNE – MIDOUN
La Bulle, an ephemeral inflatable structure, will be installed on the front basin of the Fadhloun Mosque. It will be co-constructed with the residents and young people of the Midoun district in the form of an 8-day workshop, its size and shape in harmony with the building, and will encourage intimacy and proximity with the artists performing there. It will accommodate between 60 and 100 people, including artists, depending on health restrictions.
Once completed, the inflatable architecture will be the venue for artistic performances co-programmed with Anis Melliti. The program will be intimate and sensitive, with a focus on vocals and simple acoustic instruments. No amplification will be used unless necessary. The aim is to showcase 8 groups of artists from the region, and to promote musical traditions that resonate with North African cultures.
