– Objective: The GHAITA-21 experiment will reflect on the place of traditional musical heritage in the context of 21st-century creation.
Without falling into folkloric-technological clichés, the aim is to exploit the space of the Bubble to imagine new forms that the musical heritage of the Ghomrassen region could take. The result of this experiment will be presented in the form of an audiovisual performance expressed mainly through the tbal, the ghaita (traditional drums and flutes) and the computer.
How can we control the sounds originally intended for an open space within this plastic envelope? Digital technology, using sensors, analyzed data and artificially generated data, will be used to create a symbiosis between musical heritage and contemporary aesthetics.
GHAITA-21 will also be held during the tour in the form of an introductory workshop for the general public.
