Video mapping is a technique using video projection to create illusory perceptions of architectural elements. This process is at the heart of many sound and light shows, and requires the use of specific modeling and animation tools.
This workshop by Vincent Sanjivy will teach the skills needed to create video mapping, using free and open-source tools such as Touchdesigner software, used worldwide by artists and programmers to create digital performances and installations. Participants will learn how it works, from the basics to advanced video mapping techniques. Blender software will also be taught to model architecture in 3D and apply textures. They will also learn how to import a 3D model into Touchdesigner, and create real-time generative textures.
Other aspects will be covered, such as the fundamentals of light, or how to parameterize a Shader to reproduce a material realistically.
The notion of interactivity will also be presented, with audio analysis techniques for the creation of music-responsive content.
